Organised on Thursday 9 June in Bern, this conference will bring together a panel of experts who will discuss the role of companies, but also of investors and regulators. The conference will be broadcast live from 1:45 p.m. on the Ethos Foundation website.

How to build a more sustainable and inclusive economy? In parallel to its 2022 Annual General Meeting and as part of its 25th anniversary, the Ethos Foundation will organise on 9 June in Bern a conference and debate on this highly topical topic. Over the course of several presentations and panels of experts, the event will address the role of the regulators and the framework conditions, the question of the fiduciary duties which now falls to institutional investors to integrate sustainability criteria into their investment decisions and the ever-increasing importance environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues for companies.

Due to the limited number of places in the room, this event is reserved for members of the Foundation, mostly Swiss pension funds, as well as service providers, employees, and directors of the Ethos Foundation. However, due to the importance of these issues today not only for investors but also for civil society, this conference will also be broadcast live on our website from 1:45 p.m (in French or in German).

The main speakers will be Vice-President of the National Council Eric Nussbaumer as well as two Swiss business leaders – one listed with Galenica CEO Marc Werner and the other non-listed with Oliver Brunschwiler of Freitag who will present their vision of a responsible and inclusive economy and what this means for their business. Among the panelists, we can count on the academic expertise of Rajna Gibson Brandon and the legal expertise of Anne Troillet. Paola Ghillani will share her board experience while Margarita Pirovska of the PRI will broaden the debate beyond Switzerland. Finally, Jonathan Normand of B Lab will explain why companies today have a responsibility towards all their stakeholders and not just their shareholders.

The three former presidents of Ethos will also be present and will come back to the main topics and major events that animated the first 25 years of the Ethos Foundation (see the full programme in French or German).
